Redhook Uses Public Relations Firm to Push "Strip Crawl"

Yes, you heard me right. Redhook Ale Brewery is organizing a group to go visit strip clubs.

If that's too hard to believe, take a look at this communication (via their PR firm).

Personally, my opinion wouldn't have even flinched if this were really "unsanctioned". (Would it have been that hard to organize an ad-hoc, informal group? You know it would not have been.)

Maybe a lot of readers will disagree with me. But I still say it's unprofessional on company time.

Let Ted know if you feel the same as I do. His number and email are in the image.

  1. Geeze, that is absurd. If they start visiting churches with free samples after sermons (because let's face it, sometimes God even needs a drink after some folks preach) I'd be ok with that.

  2. All those places are pretty iconic to Portland for the out-of-towners that will be at the beer bloggers conference. Its not something I’d be into but I say live and let live.

  3. ironic to lecture on unprofessionality while posting a private emailers message and contact info. Extremely bad form weather you disagree or not.

  4. Hiring a "Public Relations" firm to convey a message makes the message, in my opinion, public. It makes sense to me that any future communication I may send through any public relations firm would be made publicly and so would be open to the public judgement of others. The true "bad form" was Redhook using public relations for an event that carried ANY risk of being judged by the public as private and unprofessional.

  5. If it was public how come it was not sent out as a press release? Also did they not email you specifically? And to top it off only people in a small group that they had to buy passes to purchase were invited. So there is nothing "public" about it. I agree that doing this is risky and could be taken badly but it is most definitely not a "oublic" event and not even sanctioned by the Beer Bloggers Conference who just learned of it.

  6. I maintain my previous statement. I guess you're just going to have to write me a ticket.
